Smooth Operator

Back to our regularly program--

The walls are being patched and textured (smooth).  The spaces appear much brighter with the white finish.

The kitchen cabinets are being painted (white).  A full-height subway tile splash is being installed behind the range and stainless steel hood.

The woodwork in the Living Room is being scraped of any existing wall paint, to create a cleaner edge between the woodwork and the walls.

Inspection

The first inspection passed without any issues.

I was concerned with the built-up shower. But it passed.

Sconces

Ordered two wall sconces from Tap Lighting.  The sconces will be installed adjacent to the fireplace.  The sconces will illuminate the dark wood mantel, and add symmetry to the long wall.

Floor finish

The finish is being applied. A matte finish is preferred over a reflective one. To be safe, no foot traffic will be allowed on the floors for a few days.

Knob and Tube

Discovered--verified--that the Craftsman still has the original knob and tube wiring.

But on a good note, there are unfinished hardwood strips below the existing vinyl flooring in the kitchen.  Hardwood flooring in the kitchen may look nice.  As would tile.

Kitchen demo.

The demolition in the kitchen has resumed.  Today the existing lath and plaster is being removed.  It's nice to see progress after the last contractor bailed.
